By now you’ve probably heard of the new white kitchen chairs that the new designer, Bucky Brooks, is releasing on February 5.
But what about the white chairs?
Why are they made of plastic?
We asked Brooks about the process behind designing these new white chairs, and what it’s like to work with black designers.
What was the genesis behind designing white kitchen cabinets?
I think there’s a misconception that the kitchen cabinet is a black thing.
And I think there are a lot of white designers out there who do white cabinets, and they’ve got a lot to do with black furniture.
We were looking at all these white cabinets and I was like, “Well, they’re going to look black.
So let’s do something different.”
It’s all about color.
When you put together a room that has a lot going on, you can create a lot more of a feeling and feel.
You can have an overall sense of warmth.
It can really add a lot in to the feel of a space.
How much of a difference does that make?
I’ve done a lot.
I’ve had a lot that’s black and white, and it was the best decision I’ve made.
I have a black family.
I’m always going to be a black person.
I started out designing cabinets for a black client.
I started out working on black furniture because I felt like it was my calling.
I grew up in an area where I grew to love the African American community.
I just think that when you have a family that loves you, you feel like you’re a part of something bigger than yourself.
It’s a feeling I’ve always had.
I can’t imagine being a white designer, or working with a white client.
But you can’t really do that with black clients.
And there’s some very beautiful, very beautiful black furniture out there.
What was your reaction when you first saw the white kitchen cabinet?
I’m very appreciative of the work Bucky is doing.
We have to take into consideration the type of space and the kind of furniture, and the type and amount of color.
It does change the feeling of the space.
It changes the feeling in a lot different ways.
But I love it, it’s beautiful.
I love the white cabinets.
It has the right amount of white, the right color, and a really nice, clean feeling to it.
You don’t feel like there’s an entire white room behind you.
The white cabinets have a certain feel.
They’re not really too much of an adjustment.
Are you going to take a different approach when designing black furniture?
We’re definitely going to keep in mind what kind of space we’re designing for, and that’s going to change.
You’ve got this great white space, and you have this space that’s a little bit darker, but you’ve got all the black elements in there.
But the furniture’s going in a different direction.
It may look like it’s black, but there are some nice touches.
I think it’s a really good balance, and I’m really excited to be working with him on these.
Is this the first time you’ve worked with a black designer?
No, but I know that we’ve been talking about this.
I haven’t worked with any white designers.
We’ve been working with Bucky.
We are really excited about the opportunity.
What’s your favorite piece of furniture you’ve made?
I love this white kitchen chair.
It was one of the first things I made.
It had an incredible feel.
I really love the color, the material, and this white cabinet.
It is the best white cabinet I’ve ever made.
Is there anything you love about the kitchen?
The kitchen has to have the right balance of warmth and the lightness that you want.
There has to be an overall feeling of warmth in there, and there has to feel a lot lighter.
It doesn’t have to be very flashy.
There’s always something interesting going on in there with the white furniture.
Is that part of the process?
I’m very interested in the materials, and how they interact with the space, the furniture, the light.
I like to have a sense of depth.
You get the feel for the color.
The material is the most important element, and then the white cabinet has the most depth.
Is it a challenge to find the right white cabinet?
The cabinets are all pretty good, so we just kind of go with it.
I love the way they’re designed.
There are all these really nice features that make them really, really, well designed.
You’re not limited by what kind or size of cabinets you can put in.
There aren’t really rules that come into play when you’re working with white cabinets or black cabinets.
What is it like working with black designer Bucky?
